TankyRangedMinions

A Techmarine that solves its two hardest problems with perk choices rather than mechanical skill. Precision Enhancement turns the servo-gun into a targeting drone that one-shots Zoanthropes, which are the single biggest cause of failed runs for newer players, and Lethal Perimeter lets you pin it to a zone so it never wastes shots. The Omnissian Axe covers everything else: Iron Rush gives 50% ranged damage reduction during its charge, so you can run straight through a Hormagaunt swarm spamming gun strikes, and Arc Cleave plus Mighty Blast makes its Power Discharge one-combo entire packs of Majoris. The class has a narrow weapon pool, but the Heroic Heavy Bolt Rifle is a genuine behemoth, so that limitation costs nothing.

Damage

Strong and broad. Heavy Bolt Rifle with grenade launcher for horde clear, plus Power Discharge one-comboing Majoris packs with Arc Cleave and Mighty Blast

Survivability

Good once the armour engine is online. Recoupment and Fortifying Salvo keep armour cycling, and Iron Rush gives 50% ranged reduction on demand

Boss

Solid. Impaling Thrusts after a long Omnissian Rush does heavy single-target damage, and the servo-gun contributes continuously

Class Breakdown
Techmarine

Techmarine

The squad's engineer. The Techmarine deploys a servo-gun that fights independently alongside it, repairs the team's armour, and is the only class that can perform a gun strike without committing to an animation. It trades the widest weapon pool for battlefield control and the best armour economy in the game.

Primary: Deathwatch (Heavy Bolt Rifle)
Wiki

The best and easiest primary on the class. Unlike Tactical, the Techmarine has no access to the Pyreblaster, Melta Rifle, or Bolt Carbine, so the ease-of-use options are narrow. That turns out not to matter, because this weapon is enormous and its underslung grenade launcher is one of the strongest tools in the game.

Combat Strategy

1Phase 1/5
Preparation
3 steps
  1. Take Precision Enhancement and Lethal Perimeter together. Neither reaches its potential without the other.
  2. Skip Strategic Gun Strike. The servo-gun already auto-prioritises correctly with this setup.
  3. Match your melee perk to your weapon: Arc Cleave with the Omnissian Axe, Omnissian Axe Deflection with a Fencing weapon.
2Phase 2/5
Core Rotation
4 steps
  1. Mark a zone with the servo-gun over the most contested ground and leave it working.
  2. Fire the Heavy Bolt Rifle into groups and use the grenade launcher for crowd control.
  3. Land Majoris headshot kills to trigger Recoupment for a free armour segment every 15 seconds.
  4. Deactivate the servo-gun before it burns energy on nothing, which also arms Inexorable Salvo.
3Phase 3/5
Burst Window
3 steps
  1. Charge a Power Discharge into a bunched group. Arc Cleave and Mighty Blast together one-combo Majoris packs.
  2. Let the servo-gun handle Zoanthropes. Precision Enhancement one-shots them without you doing anything.
  3. Hold Omnissian Rush longer before releasing for higher Impaling Thrust damage on a single large target.
4Phase 4/5
Sustain & Recovery
4 steps
  1. Recoupment and Fortifying Salvo are the armour engine. Prioritise headshots on Majoris to keep it running.
  2. Battlefield Repairs gives the whole squad an extra armour segment on Majoris and Extremis finishers.
  3. Charged Plasma Pistol shots return contested health quickly.
  4. Use Iron Rush to disengage under ranged fire, not just to close distance.
5Phase 5/5
Advanced Play
3 steps
  1. Keep the servo-gun deployed on a marked zone during heavy fights. Inexorable Salvo's no-knockback lasts only while it is active, and Lethal Perimeter's 50% energy saving is what makes that affordable.
  2. Watch for the flash during Omnissian Rush. Making contact with a large enemy before the first flash causes a recoil that locks you in place briefly.
  3. Rapid Charge matters more than it looks, because Power Discharge is substantially weaker without Mighty Blast behind it.
