Bulwark Salamander Power Sword
BulwarkRebuilds the Bulwark as an offensive class by centering everything on the Heroic Power Sword's Nocturne's Retort perk. A perfect parry empowers the blade, and each stack makes the next Speed-style light attack hit for 300% more damage. Stacked flat melee multipliers, an automatic shock grenade on armour break, and the Shock and Awe amplifier turn every parry into an area-clearing burst while the class keeps its usual survivability.
Damage
300% empowered light attacks, 6-stack bank, plus 25% shock-area amplifier. Melts swarms and Elites
Survivability
+30% base health, 30% DR below 50% HP, 20% banner DR, 30s team armour regen
Boss
+20% Terminus melee damage, Power Rake shockwaves, banner DoT. Strong but parry-timing dependent

Bulwark
The squad's frontline shield-bearer. The Bulwark carries a shield alongside a heavy melee weapon and plants a Chapter Banner that restores armour to every nearby squad member. It is built to hold ground in close quarters, and its perk tree is unusually deep in team-wide defensive effects rather than personal firepower.

The Heroic-tier Power Sword and the reason this build exists. It is a Fencing blade, so its parry window is naturally the most forgiving of the three defensive stances, and its 7+ speed rating keeps the Speed-style light combo flowing without animation gaps. Nocturne's Retort converts every perfect parry into a burst of empowered light attacks. The tradeoff is that the perk shrinks the parry window, so the Fencing base is what keeps the loop practical.
How to Obtain

The Bulwark's fixed class ability. Planting it restores armour to every squad member inside its radius, and this build layers two perks on top of it so the banner also becomes a damage zone and a defensive bubble. Purity of Purpose adds damage over time to enemies standing in it, which stacks with the shock-area damage amplifier for the build's biggest area windows.
How to Obtain
Combat Strategy
- ▸Confirm the sword is in Speed style. Nocturne's Retort only empowers Speed-style light attacks, so Power style turns the build off.
- ▸Shield bash before contact to put Merciless Resolve online for +15% melee damage and 10 seconds of knockback immunity.
- ▸Check your armour. Armoured Strength adds 10% melee damage while any armour remains, and Focused Restoration will refresh a segment every 30 seconds.
- ▸Pick where the banner goes. You want it covering the choke the squad will hold so Purity of Purpose grinds everything that walks in.
- ▸Buffer a stance swap during a jump or dodge by holding the melee input to trigger Master of Offence for 20% more melee damage.
- ▸Bait the first attacker into a perfect parry. This fires Intimidating Aura's area damage and banks 3 empower stacks.
- ▸Spend the stacks immediately on a Speed-style light combo, where each consecutive hit also gains a base damage step.
- ▸Shield bash once the combo ends to refresh Merciless Resolve before the next engagement.
- ▸Parry, then light combo. This is the loop, and it should account for most of your damage across an entire Operation.
- ▸Re-parry as soon as stacks run dry. Two perfect parries refill the full 6-stack bank.
- ▸Throw a Power Rake with the hold input when nothing is attacking, since Cutting Edge and Overcharge both boost it and it carries a 10-metre shockwave.
- ▸Swap stances on cooldown to keep Master of Offence live, using jump and dodge animations so you never actually leave Speed style.
- ▸Plant the Chapter Banner. Standard Bearer makes you invulnerable for 2 seconds so you can place it inside a swarm safely.
- ▸Fight inside the banner zone so Purity of Purpose ticks while Glory's Shield cuts incoming damage by 20% for the whole squad.
- ▸Let your armour break rather than retreating. Emergency Countermeasure detonates a shock grenade at your feet, and Shock and Awe then adds 25% damage to everything caught in it.
- ▸Stack both zones when possible. A banner dropped on top of the shock area is the build's single biggest damage window.
- ▸Keep swinging in Speed style to recover contested health, which Speed Restoration doubles.
- ▸Rely on Focused Restoration's automatic armour segment every 30 seconds. Any armour at all caps the health damage from a single hit.
- ▸Execute a Majoris to restore health and open a 10 second Elite Hunter window on the pistol.
- ▸Swap to the Honourific Relic during that window and land burst-fire headshots, then return to the blade before it expires.
