About Divinity: Original Sin 2 Builds

Divinity: Original Sin 2 builds are constrained by the armor system more than by anything else. Every enemy has physical armor and magic armor, and crowd control only lands once the matching armor is stripped to zero. That single rule pushes most successful parties toward committing to one damage type across multiple characters, because splitting between physical and magical damage means chipping away at both bars and breaking neither. Attributes and combat abilities determine your damage, while Memory determines how many skills you can have slotted at once, which is a real limit on how versatile a character can be. Skills come from schools that each have their own scaling attribute, and mixing schools is fine as long as they share a stat. Source skills are the heavy hitters and are limited by Source points. Elemental surfaces spread, combine, and persist across the battlefield, so positioning and the order in which you apply effects often decides a fight before raw numbers do.
