Equip Hidden Blade as Your Off-Hand Weapon
Leave your off-hand slot empty and Eivor fights with the Hidden Blade instead. Tapping parry still blocks, and holding parry delivers a two-hit attack that deals moderate damage and drops most enemies to the ground. It's not the strongest off-hand option, but it keeps the blade in play outside of assassinations.
Drop a Torch to Ignite Your Arrows for Free
Draw your torch, drop it on the ground, then aim your bow at the flame until the arrow tip catches. This gives you fire arrows at no cost whenever you need them. Other flames in the world, including braziers and burning objects, work the same way.
Hold Dodge to Roll Out of Fire Debuffs
Catching fire drains health fast. A single dodge interrupts the burn, but holding the dodge button executes a full roll that extinguishes it completely. Watch the debuff indicator in the corner of the screen and react before the meter fills.
Unlock Heavy Dual Wielding in the Bear Tree
The major node at the end of the Bear skill tree lets you equip two two-handed weapons at once, including Dane axes, spears, and greatswords. Your off-hand weapon handles parrying and its own special attack. The Dual Swap talent in the same tree lets you flip which hand is active, doubling your available move set.

Unlock Advanced Assassinations Early in the Raven Tree
The skill tree is hidden behind fog of war, so Advanced Assassinations is easy to miss. Head straight down the Raven tree and invest in the major node. Once unlocked, you can kill nearly every enemy type outright, including elites, through a simple timing minigame that's rarely difficult.

Check Item Details to Locate Missing Set Pieces
Open any piece of armor's detail screen and it shows which region of England or Norway holds the rest of that set. Most sets are scattered across multiple regions, so using this before consulting a guide gives you a natural hunting direction without spoiling the exploration.
Use Torches to Break Barriers and Save Arrows
Torches break through light walls, shatter windows, cut ropes, and bring down ladders. Using one for environmental puzzles saves arrows, which are scarce before you upgrade your quiver. The torch also works as an off-hand weapon that sets enemies on fire in a pinch.
Sneak into High-Level Zones for Early Loot
Power level recommendations are not hard limits. You can enter higher-level regions, loot treasure, and sneak past enemies well before you're ready to fight there. If you get spotted, disengage and run. The level 280 region of northern Norway is reachable early and worth a quiet pass-through.
Call Your Longship Anywhere via the Quick Menu
You don't need a port to summon your ship. Open the quick action menu and select Call Longship to bring it to your location from anywhere on the map. You can also trigger a raid this way from inside an encampment, which calls the crew ashore without needing to pilot the ship in manually.

Wade into Norwich's River to Farm Silver Fast
The shallow river running through Norwich in East Anglia is packed with fish that respawn endlessly. Equip a spear, remove your armor so you can move freely, and use Odin Sight to track fish groups. Each catch sells for 5 to 15 silver, and a few minutes of fishing converts into substantial upgrade materials.

Win Flyting Matches to Raise Charisma
Flyting is a rhythm-based verbal duel where you match cadence and pick the sharpest comeback. Winning raises your Charisma stat, which unlocks persuasion dialogue options at key story moments. Those options consistently produce the best outcomes and can spare you from fights or bribes entirely. Each match takes about five minutes.
Upgrade Your Rations Before Upgrading Your Gear
Rations are your emergency healing and they have a capacity cap. Upgrading them early means going into tough fights with multiple charges instead of one. Many players hold off on this in favor of gear upgrades and end up struggling through encounters that an extra healing charge would have solved.
Finish Main Quest in an Area Before Free-Roaming It
The main quest returns you to most regions of England and Norway naturally. Clearing side content before the story takes you there often means doubling back, and some loot is locked behind story progress anyway. A better rhythm is to follow the quest into a new area, then explore and clean up after the arc concludes.
