Ultimate Early Game Strength Build
HeroA Hero-class one-shot opener that rushes the Greatsword colossal sword out of a Caelid carriage chest, layers Flame Grant Me Strength and Electrify Armament on top of a Heavy-affinity Lion's Claw, and deletes Margit, Godrick, and Rennala in a handful of swings. Radagon's Soreseal stacked with Starscourge Heirloom pushes effective Strength deep into Greatsword scaling territory long before the build hits level 40.
Damage
Lion's Claw at +15 Greatsword with full buff stack one-shots most early field enemies and chunks ~30% of Margit's HP per cast
Survivability
20 effective Vig in Phase 2 (15 base + 5 Soreseal). Royal Remains regen ticks +8 HP/s below 18% HP
Boss
Margit dies in 2-3 Lion's Claws, Godrick in 3-4, Rennala in 5-6. Trivializes every Phase 4 boss

Hero
Hero is Elden Ring's strength-focused melee starting class. It begins with 16 Strength (the highest base Str of any starting class) and a Battle Axe with native Bleed buildup, which makes it the natural fit for any colossal-weapon build that wants its weapon-requirement floor cleared from level 1.
The build's main weapon. A coarse iron colossal sword with the highest raw physical attack of any early-accessible weapon and S-tier Strength scaling at +15. Lion's Claw is infused with a Heavy affinity Ash of War so every Strength point pays into the lunge finisher's damage and stagger.
How to Obtain
Full four-piece armor set with the build's defensive identity baked into the helm: each piece restores 2 HP per second whenever current HP drops below 18%, capping at 8 HP/s with the full set. Pairs perfectly with the +15% damage-taken penalty on Radagon's Soreseal because the regen ticks aggressively in the danger zone where you would otherwise die.
Alternative Sets
- Twinned Set (Flex Fashion)Wiki
How to Obtain
Stat-stick talisman that adds +5 Vigor, +5 Endurance, +5 Strength, and +5 Dexterity at the cost of +15% damage taken. The +5 Strength is what carries the build past the Greatsword's 31 Strength requirement before the Greyoll rune dump finishes. The damage-taken penalty is what makes the Royal Remains regen card so important during the survivability gap.
Alternative Talisman
- Green Turtle Talisman (Flex)Wiki
How to Obtain
30% rune-acquisition boost for ~3 minutes per use. Consumed before the Elder Dragon Greyoll farm to push the kill from 75,000 to roughly 97,000 runes. Recipe drops from Missionary's Cookbook [2] sold by Patches for 800 Runes, which makes the boost renewable for every major rune dump on the way to 60 Vigor.
How to Obtain
Combat Strategy
- ▸Mix the Flask of Wondrous Physick with the Strength-knot Crystal Tear and the Stamina-knot Crystal Tear for +10 Str and faster stamina regen across the fight.
- ▸Equip Commander's Standard in the off-hand, Finger Seal in the right hand, and the Greatsword in the second right-hand slot for fast swaps.
- ▸Confirm Lion's Claw is applied to the Greatsword at the last Site of Grace, and Flame Grant Me Strength plus Electrify Armament are in the memory slots.
- ▸Drink the Wondrous Physick right before the fog wall to start the 3-minute Strength-knot timer.
- ▸Cast Flame Grant Me Strength first because its 30-second duration is the tightest. The +20% physical and fire boost should still be active when Lion's Claw lands.
- ▸Two-hand Commander's Standard and fire Rallying Standard for the +20% attack buff. Then swap to the Finger Seal and cast Electrify Armament onto the Greatsword.
- ▸Drink an FP flask to refill, two-hand the Greatsword, and step through the fog wall.
- ▸Spam Lion's Claw with L2 / LT as the primary input. Each cast is 20 FP and front-flips into a high-poise overhead slam that staggers most early bosses on hit two.
- ▸Weave in charged two-handed R2s between Lion's Claws when stamina is full. The Axe Talisman's +10% charge bonus stacks with the Strength-knot tear for the largest single hits in the rotation.
- ▸Reapply Flame Grant Me Strength every 30 seconds, Electrify Armament every 90 seconds. Rallying Standard once per fight is enough.
- ▸Margit dies in two or three Lion's Claws under the full buff stack. Roll through his dagger toss and punish the recovery with a charged R2 between every Lion's Claw cycle.
- ▸Godrick the Grafted staggers on the first Lion's Claw and goes down in three to four casts. Phase 2 lightning Greatsword art is the only attack to dodge with a hard sprint.
- ▸Rennala loses her shield instantly to two Lion's Claws on the floating students. Phase 2 opens with a free critical, then four more Lion's Claws end the fight.
- ▸Royal Remains Set ticks +8 HP per second while current HP is below 18%, which buys back the +15% damage-taken penalty from Radagon's Soreseal in the danger window.
- ▸Use the Greatsword's hyperarmor on charged R2s to trade hits when an enemy combo cannot be rolled cleanly.
- ▸Crimson Flask charges should be saved for the back-half of the rotation. Flame Grant Me Strength's +5/s stamina regen often covers the front-half on its own.
