Two-Handed One-Shot Juggernaut

Up to DateDLC Required
OrcOrc
Max DmgMelee

Orc warhammer juggernaut that exploits the Smithing, Enchanting, and Alchemy crafting loop to push Fortify Two-Handed gear and potions to their theoretical cap, then unloads with Berserker Rage active for double-damage power swings that exceed 2,500 per hit. Skull Crusher 3/3 ignores 75% of enemy armor, and a double-enchanted Daedric Warhammer fires Chaos Damage plus Absorb Health on every connect. The endgame setup one-shots Alduin on Master, two-shots him on Legendary, and three-shots the Ebony Warrior.

Damage

2,500+ damage per power swing fully buffed. 75% armor pen via Skull Crusher 3/3.

Survivability

Daedric Heavy Armor + 50% damage reduction during the 60-second Berserker Rage window.

Boss

1-shot Alduin (Master), 2-shot (Legendary). 3-shot Ebony Warrior on Legendary. Karstaag trivialized with Resist Frost.

Orc

Native to the Wrothgarian and Dragontail Mountains, Orsimer are renowned warrior-smiths. Their Berserker Rage racial doubles outgoing damage and halves incoming damage for 60 seconds once per day, layering on top of starting bonuses to Heavy Armor, Smithing, Two-Handed, Enchanting, and Block. Every skill this build maxes is one the race already starts ahead in.

Two-Hander: Daedric Warhammer
Two-Hander: Daedric Warhammer
Wiki

Endgame primary. Highest base damage of any non-DLC two-hander, and the only warhammer that scales with Daedric Smithing's double-tempering bonus to push past 500 damage on the weapon card alone. Carry Chaos Damage and Absorb Health as the dual enchantment via the Extra Effect perk. Tempering to Legendary at a Smithing-buffed Grindstone is what closes the gap between the wiki's 27 base damage and the build's 527+ in-game value.

How to Obtain

Crafted at any blacksmith's forge once Smithing is 90 and the Daedric Smithing perk is taken. Unenchanted variants also begin appearing in leveled loot at character level 44, but crafting your own is faster and lets you pick the enchant.

Body: Daedric Cuirass
Body: Daedric Cuirass
Wiki

Highest base armor rating in vanilla Skyrim. The body slot doesn't carry a Fortify Two-Handed enchant (those go on helm, gauntlets, boots, ring, necklace). Use this slot for survival enchants like Fortify Health or Resist Magic. The cuirass glows red in dim light, which is purely cosmetic and does not break stealth.

How to Obtain

Crafted at any forge with Daedric Smithing taken. Leveled loot variants appear from character level 48 onward.

Wiki

Fourth Fortify Two-Handed slot. Any Gold or Silver ring works as the base item; the enchant carries the value, not the metal. Craft a stack of cheap rings, enchant them all under the Fortify Enchanting potion, and keep the highest roll.

How to Obtain

Self-crafted. Smelt Gold Ore into Gold Ingots and forge Gold Rings at any blacksmith, then enchant at an Arcane Enchanter while running the Fortify Enchanting potion + Fortify Enchanting gear stack.

Crafting Sets0 items
Fortify Alchemy / Smithing Loop Gear

Not equipped during combat. Two separate four-piece sets you swap to before crafting potions or improving weapons. The Alchemy set (helm, gloves, ring, necklace) boosts potion potency. The Smithing set (helm, gloves, ring, necklace) boosts weapon and armor tempering. Build both by looping: wear Alchemy gear to brew a Fortify Enchanting potion, drink it to enchant a stronger Smithing set, wear that to brew a stronger Fortify Smithing potion, drink it to temper your Daedric gear. Each loop iteration tightens toward the engine's 33-34% per-piece cap. Stop after three or four iterations, since gains plateau hard.

Combat Strategy

1Phase 1/4
Preparation
4 steps
  1. Equip the full Fortify Two-Handed Daedric set: helm, cuirass, gauntlets, boots, ring, necklace.
  2. Drink a Fortify Two-Handed potion for the ~139% bonus damage during the 60-second window.
  3. Apply a high-tier Damage Health poison to the Daedric Warhammer for one or two extra burst hits.
  4. Sheathe the warhammer until the moment of contact so power attack timing is clean.
2Phase 2/4
Burst Window
4 steps
  1. Activate Berserker Rage from the Powers menu the instant before the kill swing connects.
  2. Lead with a standing power attack to trigger Devastating Blow's +25% damage and decapitation chance.
  3. Skull Crusher 3/3 strips 75% of the target's armor on contact, so the displayed weapon damage translates almost 1:1 to dealt damage.
  4. Chain a second power swing if the target survives. Champion's Stance gives you the stamina headroom for two or three swings inside the window.
3Phase 3/4
Sustain & Recovery
4 steps
  1. Absorb Health on the warhammer heals you back to full across two or three connects against trash.
  2. 0.5x incoming damage from Berserker Rage covers most boss return fire during the burst window.
  3. If the burst window expires mid-fight, retreat behind cover and wait for stamina and health to regen, then re-engage with poison and a fresh Fortify Two-Handed potion.
  4. Save Berserker Rage strictly for elite encounters since it only refreshes once per in-game day.
4Phase 4/4
Boss Strategy
4 steps
  1. Karstaag (Castle Karstaag Ruins, Dragonborn DLC): drink a Potion of Resist Frost before engaging to cancel his frost cloak and stomp blizzard. He is 100% frost-immune but 25% weak to fire, so any fire-side weapon enchant overperforms.
  2. Ebony Warrior (Last Vigil, Dragonborn DLC): triggers at character level 80. Stack Resist Magic potions for his Ebony Bow of Winter and elemental enchants. Three-swing territory on Legendary.
  3. Alduin (final main quest fight): one-shot on Master, two-shot on Legendary with Berserker Rage and a fresh Fortify Two-Handed potion active.
  4. Avoid using Berserker Rage on regular bandit camps. The once-per-day refresh is worth saving for an elite or named target.
