Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has no skill tree, so a build here is entirely a question of equipment. Edward carries a pair of swords, a set of flintlock pistols, an outfit, and two trinket slots, and it is the trinkets that do the job a skill tree would do in other games. Each one grants a persistent effect such as healing on a takedown, reduced damage from gunfire, or better recovery from wrecks, and because only two can be equipped at once, swapping them to match the activity in front of you is part of running the build rather than a sign you built it wrong. Swords differ by raw damage and by their perks, with some sets granting ranged heavy strikes that cost no ammunition. Outfits supply the flat defensive layer and are earned rather than bought. The Jackdaw is effectively a second build with its own progression, since mortars, broadsides, and ram strength are purchased separately and decide whether naval fights are survivable at your current level. Hideout and store upgrades gate which trinkets and weapons are available at all, so the order you buy things in matters as much as the final loadout.
