About Dark Souls Remastered Builds
Dark Souls Remastered builds hinge on two things the later games handle differently: poise and upgrade paths. Poise determines whether you get staggered out of an attack, and heavier armor grants enough of it to trade hits that a lighter build simply cannot. That makes armor weight a real build decision rather than a cosmetic one, and it interacts with equip load, since staying under the roll thresholds is what keeps you mobile. Weapon upgrade paths branch through the blacksmiths, converting a weapon toward Fire, Chaos, Lightning, Magic, or Divine, and several of these scale off nothing at all, which makes them strong for low-stat builds and weak for high-stat ones. Only two ring slots exist, so ring choices carry more weight than in the sequels. Humanity affects both item discovery and Chaos weapon damage. The long-standing convention for online play is a level cap around 120, which is roughly enough for one damage stat at its soft cap plus decent Vitality and Endurance.
