Send Heavy Items Directly to Camp Storage
Pick up any item, right-click it, and choose to send it to Camp. Explosive barrels, locked chests, and heavy crates all go straight to the chest at Camp with no carry weight required. Camp storage is unlimited, so stockpile anything you might want later.
Teleport to Camp From Anywhere via Waypoints
Pull up the map with M and use the waypoint list on the right to fast travel, including directly to Camp, from almost anywhere in the world. This makes sending items to Camp or switching party members quick and painless.
Use the G Key to Instantly Regroup Your Party
When your party is scattered, send each character to Camp individually, then on the character at your target location press G and leave Camp. All characters teleport back to that position at once. This only works in single player.
Block Floor Vents by Placing Objects on Them
Environmental hazard vents can be plugged by placing any sufficiently heavy object on top of them. This stops gas or fire from triggering and makes navigating dangerous areas much safer.

Transfer Items Between Characters Mid-Combat
Press Tab during combat to open all character inventories at once, then drag items directly between them. This lets you hand a health potion or scroll to whichever character needs it most without wasting a turn.
Group Party to Splash Potions as AOE Heals
Throw a healing potion at the ground between tightly grouped party members rather than using it on a single character. The splash hits everyone nearby, effectively turning one potion into a full-party heal.
Use Summon Creatures for Combat and Scouting
Summons almost always absorb a hit before going down and can be re-summoned immediately, saving spell slots and potions. Each has unique utility: Cat's Meow clusters enemies before encounters, Magehand can shove or throw objects as a ranged attacker, and the Githyanki racial hand is invisible for undetectable repositioning. Summons also scout new areas without triggering cutscenes.
Prioritize Mobility Spells and Abilities
Any ability that moves a character a significant distance is among the most powerful tools in the game. Ranged characters can escape melee instantly, melee characters can reach back-line enemies in a single move, and mobility out of combat opens hidden paths and secrets. If you can attack and then move out of line of sight in the same turn, you become extremely difficult to punish.
Favor Utility Spells Over Raw Damage Output
Spells with secondary effects are often stronger than higher-damage alternatives. Ray of Frost deals slightly less damage than Firebolt but slows enemy movement by 3 meters and can freeze blood or water surfaces to knock melee enemies down. Sacred Flame bypasses line-of-sight restrictions entirely. Consider crowd control and surface effects when choosing between cantrips, and always check enemy immunities before committing.
Never End a Turn With Unused Actions
Ending your turn with a spare action, bonus action, or movement is almost always a mistake. Ranged characters can attack and then kite backward or break line of sight. Melee characters who cannot close the gap can throw a nearby object or use Dash to reposition instead. Even drinking a potion with a bonus action is better than leaving it unspent.
Equip a Torch in Your Offhand for Bonus Attacks
Torches need no weapon proficiency and can be equipped in the offhand slot by any class. They light up dark areas and unlock the offhand bonus attack action, giving Warlocks and Wizards an emergency melee option without investing in any weapon skill.
Run Away to Reset Fights You Cannot Win
Losing a combat encounter is not a permanent setback. As long as at least one character escapes, you can retreat, rest, and return to the fight later when your party is better prepared or at a higher level.
Carry Weapons of Multiple Damage Types
Melee characters are often proficient in several weapon categories, so carrying a piercing and a bludgeoning weapon costs nothing extra. Some enemies are vulnerable or resistant to specific damage types, letting you swap to whichever deals more in a given fight.
3 tipsUI
Learn the Essential Keyboard Hotkeys
Alt highlights all nearby lootable and interactable items. Shift reveals enemy sight cones and stealth brightness levels without entering hide. O toggles tactical view and extends the camera range for spells. C hides your character, and Shift-C hides the whole group. Z makes jumping faster and easier to use out of combat.
Use Inspect and Examine to Check Weaknesses
Press T on any item, spell, action, or stat to open the Inspect panel, then hover over bolded terms to see their definitions. Examine an enemy to see their passives, ability scores, resistances, and immunities before spending a spell slot. This prevents wasted turns casting fire spells at fire-immune enemies or poison spells at undead.
Aim at Enemy Portraits When Targeting Fails
If clicking on an enemy in the game world is not snapping to them correctly, click directly on their portrait instead. If that still fails, moving the mouse to a different part of their model, such as their feet, often finds a valid target.
1 tipStealth
Activate Turn-Based Mode Out of Combat
Press Shift-Space outside of combat to freeze time entirely. Use this to lock a patrolling enemy in place before engaging, stop a fleeing target, pause buff timers while you prepare your party, navigate trap-filled areas safely, or set up summon creatures before a fight without their timers counting down.
1 tipProgression
Rest Often to Keep Your Party at Full Strength
Food is plentiful as long as you loot consistently, so there is rarely a reason to conserve rests. Resting fully restores health and spell slots, meaning you can enter most fights at full strength rather than rationing resources across encounters.
1 tipInventory
Place Backpacks on Your Hotbar for Quick Access
Dragging a backpack onto your action hotbar lets you click it in combat to instantly see its contents and right-click items to use them without opening the full inventory. Keeping scrolls or throwing weapons in a dedicated bag this way keeps your main inventory clean and your most-used items a single click away.
