1

Put Damage on Your Dash Ability

Adding a power to your dash is the single most impactful way to deal damage in the early game. You start with one dash but can unlock more over time, and dashing constantly while outputting damage is a reliable strategy for a first win.

2

Stack Shuriken Count with Ricochet and Feathers

There are many ways to amplify the Shuriken Dash. Ricochet makes each shuriken bounce to a nearby enemy on hit, while Feathers upgrade a power to an enhanced version, adding extra shurikens to each dash. Stack enough of these and you can blanket entire rooms with projectiles.

3

Use Dash I-Frames to Dodge Dangerous Attacks

Dashing grants invincibility frames, making it a defensive tool as well as a damage source. Use it to pass through attacks you cannot outrun by standing still.

4

Never Stand Still Near Mouser Lightning Attacks

Mouser enemies fire lightning attacks that deal heavy damage to stationary targets. Since your basic attacks and special both require you to stand still, avoid committing to those animations when Mousers are nearby.

5

Choose Mikey or Raph for Your First Win

Michelangelo and Raphael have the fastest attack speed in the roster, which lets you recharge your Special and Tool cooldowns quickly. Mikey has a slight edge thanks to his wide area-of-effect attacks and multi-hit Mastery abilities.

6

Avoid Donatello Unless Running a Dash Build

Donatello's slow attack speed makes it harder to keep your Special and Tool off cooldown, which puts him at a disadvantage in most runs. If you are running the Shuriken Dash build, turtle choice is irrelevant since cooldown recharge is no longer your main concern.

7

Hit Enemies to Reset Special and Tool Cooldowns

Landing hits on enemies is what refills your Special and Tool meters. Swinging at empty air does nothing, so always stay engaged with enemies to keep your abilities cycling.

1

Unlock the Tesson Artifact First

The Tesson is your most important artifact early on. You earn it by defeating the Docks boss twice, and it increases the odds that your next power selection will be from the Ninja school. Ninja powers include the Shuriken Dash, which is the most consistent damage strategy in the game.

2

Use the Foot Clan Medallion for Flame Builds

The Foot Clan Medallion artifact doubles your chances of receiving Flame powers after each room. The Flame Dash deals solid burst damage, and there is a power within the Flame school that converts all of your flame abilities to Inferno, adding a damage-over-time effect on top.

3

Commit to Light or Dark Astral Powers Early

Once you pick a light or dark Astral power, you will only see that alignment for the rest of the run. Plan your Legendary Boon targets before picking, since those boons require two specific matching power types to become available.

4

Change the Default Difficulty Setting

The game places you on Easy difficulty by default without telling you. Head into the settings and switch to Normal if you want the intended challenge. The difference is subtle but worth knowing about before you invest hours.

5

Skip Gauntlet Challenges Until You Are Established

Gauntlet challenges significantly ramp up boss difficulty. Avoid them until you have spent time unlocking powers from both the Dragon and Dreamer coin benches, otherwise the difficulty spike will outpace your build's strength.

1 tipEconomy
1

Take Every Portal to Maximize Coin Earnings

Portals at the start of each zone boost your Dragon and Dreamer coin income in exchange for tougher enemies. If you skip a portal, the bonus chain ends for that zone and you cannot recover the missed coins.

1

Play Co-op for Free Mid-Run Revives

In multiplayer, if you die during a room but your partner clears all the enemies, you revive at the start of the next room with a quarter of your health. This safety net makes the game significantly more forgiving and is the easiest path to a first win.
