About Dragon's Dogma 2 Builds

A Dragon's Dogma 2 build starts with a vocation, which fixes the weapon you carry and the pool of skills you can learn. Core skills are always on, while only four weapon skills fit on your bar at once, so most builds come down to which four earn a slot. Each vocation also has a master skill taught by its Maister, and these change how the vocation plays far more than any single weapon. Augments are the cross-vocation layer. They are passive bonuses unlocked by ranking up a vocation, and once learned they can be equipped on any other, which is why endgame characters dabble in several vocations before settling on one. Rings add a further passive slot with effects that range from flat stat bumps to trade-offs such as doubled Health for halved Stamina. The Dark Arisen expansion adds relic gear from Norgan, where appraised weapons and armor roll random stats and special skills, so endgame builds are partly a matter of farming the right combination. Your main pawn's vocation and two hired pawns round out the party around you.
