Remnant: From the Ashes builds are simpler than the sequel's but follow the same logic. There are no archetypes to combine, so a build is defined by its weapons, the mods attached to them, and the armor set worn. Weapon mods are the ability system, charged by dealing damage and providing everything from turrets to healing to large damage bursts, and because mods can be moved between weapons, choosing a mod is largely independent of choosing a gun. Armor sets grant bonuses at three pieces and push toward specific approaches, and armor weight affects your dodge, which makes the light, medium, and heavy thresholds a real decision rather than a stat comparison. Traits provide a large pool of passive points that accumulate across characters. Rings and amulets fill the remaining slots with percentage bonuses. The world is procedurally generated per campaign, so certain bosses and their associated gear only appear on some rolls, which makes rerolling adventure mode the normal way to complete a build.
